City of Effingham - Bike Path (ITEP Improvements)

For the past several years, the City of Effingham has been actively pursuing and constructing projects to enhance the flow and safety of non-vehicular (pedestrians, bicyclist, handicap accessible, etc.) traffic throughout the City. In early 2017, the City of Effingham was awarded a $934,400 ITEP grant for enhancements to the existing transportation system which include adding pavement markings and signage to existing streets in Effingham to create a 30.2 mile designated bike path that connects Evergreen Hollow, Community, Bliss, and Hendelmeyer Parks and other City amenities; the construction of kiosk project signs at each park denoting the bike path route throughout the City; and the construction of a concrete vehicle parking lot at the head of the TREC Trail. The City will supplement the grant with $233,600 in local funds for a total project cost of $1,168,000.
